35.6% of Fertility Practices Fall Below the 4.0-Star Threshold

In fertility care, where treatment is highly personal and often represents a significant financial commitment, patients frequently conduct extensive online research before contacting a clinic. As a result, Google ratings increasingly serve as an early filter during provider selection.

The findings suggest that reputation performance is not a marginal issue affecting only a handful of clinics. Instead, it represents a measurable challenge across a substantial portion of the industry.

4.20 Is the Industry Average—But Performance Varies Widely

Across all 671 organizations analyzed, the weighted average Google rating was 4.20 stars. However, that average masks a wide distribution of performance.

Practices in the top 10% achieved an average rating of 4.86 stars, while the top quartile averaged 4.70 stars. At the other end of the spectrum, the bottom quartile averaged 3.40 stars and the bottom 10% averaged 2.97 stars.

The data provides fertility leaders with a benchmark for evaluating their own position relative to peers. Rather than viewing ratings as isolated numbers, the report frames reputation as a measurable competitive metric that can be compared across markets and organizations.

43 Practices Have Five or Fewer Reviews

Among the practices analyzed, 43 had accumulated five or fewer reviews, creating limited visibility into patient experience and making overall ratings more susceptible to change from a small number of reviews.

The data also identified 41 practices with ratings of 4.7 stars or higher but fewer than 50 reviews. These organizations represent a notable segment of the market where strong patient satisfaction exists but review visibility remains comparatively limited.

At the same time, review activity appears concentrated among a relatively small group of organizations. According to the report, 33.5% of all reviews came from the top 10% of practices.

The opportunities identified in the benchmarking analysis are not purely theoretical. In a recent case study, IVY Fertility documented improvements in Google ratings and online visibility through a structured review-generation and reputation-management strategy. As additional benchmarking data becomes available, fertility leaders will have more context for evaluating how reputation performance compares with peers across the industry.

In the months leading up to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s (ASRM) annual congress, Q-Reviews will be sharing performance benchmarks for fertility center reviews, the highest and lowest rated U.S. fertility centers in the United States, and finally, the weighted google rating of nearly every fertility center in the United States.
